It’s still winter! (and other updates)

1. It’s still winter you guuuys! I know, I know. I shouldn’t complain about the weather because there are so many worse things. But yooouuuuu guuuyyysss! I’m coooolllld! Okay, it’s mid February in Ontario. Those of you who have had the luxury of living in my home province, know that this isn’t the nicest time of year. The weather is all over the place. More to the point, I am not a winter person! Blame it on my island heritage (my cousin Tricia does;), but I just can’t get into it. Every year I daydream of outdoor activities. I say “this is the year we will build snowmen, go snow shoeing, get our skate on, go tobogganing, blah blah blah…”. And then you know what I do? Hide! Inside, where it’s nice and warm! Because it’s -40, or the snow is too fluffy to make a snowman, or the snow is too crunchy to make anything, or it’s raining on top of the snow, or it was +6 yesterday and now it’s -35 so every single surface is an ice rink, or it’s so windy you get instant frostbite on your eyeballs (which are the only thing you don’t have covered in 6 layers)! It’s a long season. I do, however, make a little extra effort for the kids sake (because trust me, before I had them, I pretty much hibernated the season away).

B picked them up some shovels. They are so jazzed about shoveling!

As you can see, I'm less than impressed!

It takes so long to get all 4 of us in and out of our snow gear. I’m always under dressed, because I’m sweating by the time I get to my own coat!

2. It has been a crazy few months, but we are finally settling. I’m so happy to be done unpacking. It took so long, and it was killing me! Nothing was E-proofed so she was just running a muck. Now that things are settled I can start thinking about decor. Our apartment sized gear seems pretty sparse in our new home. We’ve never had a house to ourselves before. There’s loads of space for the kids to run around. Plus a backyard with tall trees and Blue Jays. We are few weeks in, and really enjoying it here (which is saying a lot, since we haven’t gone further then the mailboxes yet!)

This mantle is my favourite feature. The fireplace is closed off (sad face), but the mantle still looks good. I can't wait to put up our stockings at Christmas! (a rare moment when all 3 are napping)

3. It’s was a long and exhausting ordeal having B gone for over 3 month, but it’s over. We are all together and happy to be so. Our sweet baby G is fitting right in. She’s getting bigger, stronger, and louder ever day, and her siblings already love her. (I will elaborate in a future entry:)
