Top5: Family Friendly Halloween Movie Night on NetflixCA

Eeeeeeeeeeee! Halloween is almost here! Let’s talk family movie nights. Usually we watch a movie after trick or treating. It gives the kids a chance to eat some candy and then unwind before bed. There are so many great spooky movies out there but I’ll keep it simple and stick to ones you can find on NetflixCa this Halloween season. So sprinkle some candy over your popcorn bowl and let’s get to it!

Top5: Family Friendly Halloween Movie Night

The Addams Family (1991)

PG-13

Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia lead this amazing cast as a family dealing with the sudden return of a missing but beloved brother/uncle and trying to live their authentic lives in a world they don’t necessarily fit in.

Their creepy and their kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re all together ooky, and their family dynamics are absolute goals! I’ve always loved that they are a solid and loving family that just loves their spooky aesthetic and embrace their witchy family history. A perennial classic perfect for a Halloween movie night!

Ghostbusters (1984)

PG

With a new Ghostbusters around the corner, get nostalgic with it this Halloween! Join the lads as they dawn their iconic coveralls, strap on their proton blasters, and take care of supernatural business!

This is actually one of E’s favourite movies. She’s seen it so many times and Venkman is her all-time favourite Ghostbuster! I mean Stantz is right there but okay….

Hotel Transylvania (2012)

PG

A modern adventure filled with classic monsters! Drac’s daughter Mavis is growing up and learning to spread her bat wings. Adam Sandler brings in all of his besties to voice Drac’s friends with Andy Samberg and Selena Gomez rounding out the team.

All I can tell you is that G was obsessed with this movie for like a full month and watched it a million times. It’s actually pretty funny and has a fun voice cast.

Beetlejuice (1988)

PG

A teen and her family moves into a new home, only to find it haunted by the previous owners. Follow Lydia as she begrudgingly teams up with an unsavoury ghost in attempts to help them cross over. Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder lead this all-star cast.

Beetlejuice is very much an 80’s PG, so bear that in mind if you’re looking for a movie to watch with really young kids. That being said I’ve obviously made my own kids watch it a million times and now it’s on NetflixCa so you can rewatch it to your hearts content!

Nightbooks (2021)

TV-PG

Classic fairytales meet modern times when scary story loving child ends up imprisoned by a witch played by Krysten Ritter.

We haven’t watched this yet since it just came out but it’s our Halloween night movie pick this year! Last year we watched A Babysitter’s Guide To Monster Hunting which was very good!

What are your must watch Halloween movies? Are there some form your childhood that you couldn’t wait to pass down to your own kids? Hocus Pocus and Ernest Scared Stupid are two of my absolute favourites and got the kids watching from the start. I love a spooky movie night!

Happy Halloween🎃🍭🍫
